 Our Community Sustainability Mission:

“The mission of the Tri-Cities sustainability effort is to promote the healthy well-being of its citizens in a sustainable environment that brings economic benefits to the citizens and governmental entities, now and in the future.”

 

Approval of Minutes

Motion made to approve June 6 minutes by J.Velde, second by H.Brandt, motion passed.

 

New Business

Ř      Community Health & Safety, and Food Security

Ř      Guest from Gering Police Department

Ř      Discussion again returned to public information, means of dissemination, a continuation from previous TCSP meetings on pubic education needs.  TCSP efforts could be promoted via members of TCSP team writing media articles, articles by department heads practicing sustainability, and or collaboration with high school journalism classes (they would help to gather story info on various topics, ranging from activities communities are doing to be more sustainable, and other related stories about business practicing sustainability, etc).  Danielzuk suggested working with our newest paper in town for this education.  Other TCSP team members agreed our school system and local media were excellent ways to enhance sustainability education for our communities.

Ř      Topic discussions will be placed in Inventory Towards Sustainability (ITS) documentation at end of TCSP development.  All information based upon draft documents, compilation reviewed at end of ITS gathering, posted on web for in depth review.
