Slight alteration to agendas may occur as development warrants, but like the plan itself, it will be a living document.

 

Sign-in,  email address corrections, phone number corrections for each meeting

 

October 30 - Introduction to plan Development

November 18 – Mission Statement (review/revision during topic presentations),

                              Community Sustainability Assessment (CSA) 1 of 3 parts

December 2 – CSA part 2 and maybe part 3, review/revision Mission Statement

December 16 – CSA part 3 of 3 parts, or Inventory Towards Sustainability (ITS)

                              (what we have, what we want, what we will need), review/revision Mission Statement

                        ITS - Topic #1, presentations (expert input sessions from community, etc)

q       develop goals & indicators for topic

q       revisit & refine Community Assessment-have, wants, needs

q       send work developed on topic to expert and our team for approval

 

January 6, 2009 – ITS Topic #1 or #2, repeat processes until plan completed.  (1st & 3rd Tues)

ü    The Tri-City Sustainability Plan will then be presented to each city council for plan adoption.

ü    Other adoptive measures as needed will be presented to councils for implementation of the Tri-City Sustainability Plan for the Cities of Gering, Scottsbluff and Terrytown.

ü    Review/revisions will be ongoing as this is a living document.  Review to be perhaps quarterly or at least annually.  This will be the only means to keep the plan in focus for sustainable developments to our communities.

 

PROPOSAL by councils in support of Tri-City Sustainability Plan

All governmental (City) Application forms (all cities, any application form) to include question: “How does this ______________________________ promote sustainability for our community?”  Question must be answered.  If this question is unanswered, application is denied.  Community sustainability education must be ongoing and available for application process.

Application Examples:

        “Hot water heater replacement” - (water heater is an Energy Star performance unit, reducing energy requirements for this owner and our community)

        “Patio construction” - (materials are Forest Stewardship Council certified, promoting managed wood consumption),  or  (decking materials are all recycled),  or  (all materials are made from recycled plastic and renewable resources)

        “Home construction” - (plans are registered with USGBC using Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, certification building award pending construction completion.  This home will be among the most energy efficient and healthy environment with reduced natural resource demands built today.)
